SFC Neighborhood Farm Markets
Each summer the Sustainable Food Center (SFC), the organization that runs the downtown and Triangle farmers markets, hosts small farm markets in traditionally underserved neighborhoods to provide residents more opportunity to buy fresh, locally grown food.
The neighborhood markets are open through the end of July and feature at least one farm. I used to work around the corner from one of the markets in East Austin and loved going over there to buy my veggies. Now that's a productive break!

Taste of Summer Day at the Downtown Austin Farmers Market This Saturday, June 13th is Taste of Summer Day at the downtown market. Chef Mizael Saucedo of Bess Bistro will give a Chef's Circle demonstration and there will be loads of fresh tastings from the Taste the Place tent run by the newly formed SFC Food Corps volunteers. I'll be shopping early and then helping out in the Taste tent from 10:30-12:30. Come by and say hi! |
